As part of the 16th Nature Education and Science Schools Support Program organized by TÜBİTAK BİTO, the project—led by the TÜBİTAK MAM Institute of Polar Research and involving the following partners: Istanbul Technical University, Abant İzzet Baysal University, Keçiören Science and Arts Center, Düzce Science and Arts Center, Prof. Dr. Aziz Sancar Science and Arts Center, Diyarbakır Çınar Science and Arts Center, and Midyat Science and Arts Center titled ‘A Science Journey from the Arctic to Antarctica with STEM,’ was carried out at the TÜBİTAK Gebze Campus from November 14–18, 2022, with twenty-four seventh-grade students attending school in Gebze.

Throughout the project, participants had the opportunity to learn in-depth about the polar regions—from the Arctic to the Antarctic Continent—while also having fun through various activities. They also took classes taught by expert instructors on a wide range of topics, including glacial melting, polar meteorological station design, the history of Turkish polar exploration, technological design, subatomic particles, polar wildlife, DNA analysis, life sciences, earth sciences, and physical sciences.
