History:
In 2019, with the establishment of the Institute of Polar Research at the Marmara Research Center of the Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey (TÜBİTAK MAM KARE), a scientific organizational structure was put in place to serve as an institutional umbrella for polar sciences in our country. Every year, the “National Polar Sciences Symposium” is held to evaluate the results of scientific projects and studies conducted by Turkish scientists in the polar field, as well as the outcomes of scientific expeditions, and to discuss recent developments; additionally, the “Polar Festival,” which engages young people with the educational and awareness aspects of polar science research, are held annually.
