In 2019, with the establishment of the Institute of Polar Research (TÜBİTAK MAM KARE) within the Marmara Research Center of the Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey (TÜBİTAK), an institutional framework in the field of polar sciences was established in Turkey. TÜBİTAK MAM KARE, which undertakes many important tasks ranging from organizing National Polar Science Expeditions to conducting various research projects, also plays a leading role in awareness and educational initiatives. In this context, the 4th Polar Festival will be held online on December 19, 2024.
The festival offers a program packed with the following diverse activities:
- Popular Science Talks by Scientists Who Have Set Foot in the Poles
- Documentary Screenings
- Polar Science Presentations for K-12 Students
- Project Presentations by Students Who Placed in the TEKNOFEST TÜBİTAK Polar and Climate Competitions
- Ocean Art Contest Awards Ceremony
- Various Events
Important Note:
Only students and teachers enrolled in educational institutions in Turkey at the K-12 level will be accepted to submit abstracts related to the poles.
Scientific papers by researchers working at research institutions and universities in Turkey or abroad are not included in the scope of the 4th Polar Festival. For such studies, it is recommended to submit an abstract to the 9th National Symposium on Polar Sciences.
