The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) prepared between the TÜBİTAK MAM Institute of Polar Research (KARE) and the Brazilian Ministry of Science, Technology, and Innovation (MCTI) to enhance scientific cooperation in Antarctic research was signed online on August 15, 2022, by TÜBİTAK President Prof. Dr. Hasan MANDAL and Brazil’s Minister of Industry, Technology, and Innovation, Paulo ALVİM, on August 15, 2022.
Under the agreement, the way has been paved for new research by the two countries on a wide range of scientific topics, particularly climate change and sustainability in Antarctica. Furthermore, the mutual support that scientists from both countries will provide each other regarding infrastructure and logistics in Antarctica has once again underscored the importance of the Antarctic continent, where science and peace prevail.
