History:
In 2019, with the establishment of the Polar Research Institute (TÜBİTAK MAM KARE) within the Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey Marmara Research Center, an institutional structure in the field of polar sciences was established in our country. Every year, the “National Polar Sciences Symposium” is organized where the results of projects, scientific studies and expeditions carried out by Turkish scientists in the field of polar sciences are evaluated and developments are discussed.
- 1st National Polar Sciences Workshop (April 12–13, 2017) – Hosted by Istanbul Technical University,
- 2nd National Polar Sciences Workshop (September 12–13, 2018) – Hosted by Istanbul Technical University,
- 3rd National Polar Sciences Workshop (September 5–6, 2019) – Hosted by Middle East Technical University,
- 4th National Polar Sciences Workshop (October 22–23, 2020) – Held online under the coordination of TÜBİTAK MAM KARE.
- 5th National Polar Sciences Workshop (November 30, 2021) – Hosted by Gebze Technical University,
- 6. 6th National Polar Sciences Workshop (November 30, 2022) – Hosted by Karadeniz Technical University,
- 7th National Symposium on Polar Sciences (December 4–5, 2023) – Hosted by Yıldız Technical University
Contents:
Under the coordination of TÜBİTAK MAM KARE, which undertakes many important tasks ranging from the execution of National Polar Science Expeditions to the conduct of various research and studies, the 8th National Polar Sciences Symposium is scheduled to take place on November 8, 2024, at the TÜBİTAK Gebze Campus (UME Conference Hall) and online (HYBRID).
Important Note: Only papers submitted by researchers employed at domestic or international research institutions and/or universities, or by graduate students enrolled in such institutions, will be considered for review. Participation in the symposium is free of charge.

- Abstract Submission: September 18 – October 18, 2024
- Paper Review: October 18–30, 2024
- Announcement of Accepted Papers: November 1, 2024
- Symposium: November 8, 2024
